  • @qncfdq - Rubbish.

There's a lot of fossil evidence showing that these horses are native. The real culprits which outgraze the deer, elk and horses are domestic livestock.

If you want to talk about "invasive species", look no further than domestic cattle. There are 8 million of them on the range and Government Accounting Office (GAO) studies show them to be the primary cause of range degradation.

If anything needs to be removed to protect the range, it's all of the domestic livestock.

  • What are the Blue Things on the horse's rumps after the capture?

  • The government just doesn`t want to admit that the cattle are overgrazing not the horses...Reason being, the cattle bring in money for the government and the horses mind their own buisness.

  • @ArabianBloodlines these are marks mage by people to let know the chopper that he is not supposed to capture those horses againg because they were just realised.

  • I think David Martin Anderson does a great job in his new book, 'The Last Good Horse,' describing horse round-ups in the 1930s, specifically on Pryor Mountain. There's also an author interview on the subject on You Tube. Do a search under the author's name to find it. Great stuff. Great read! He was there during the summer of 2009, before this round-up took place.

  • @Milisabelle I think the movie you are thinking about is "The Misfits" where Monroe plays Rosilyn. Ros protests when she finds out cowboy Gay is going to turn wild horses in to dog food. Look it up in IMDB. :)

  • If you can get hold of it, watch Marilyn Monroe's last movie The Wild Ones (i think) in which she goes out with 'weekend' cowboys to catch mustangs for slaughter. They had to keep her drugged during the filming because they really were doing that to the horses (no acting for them). It's part of what led to Annie's Law that we thought was protecting them....You can't keep truly greedy and cruel people down apparently.....

  • @Asianticify nothing that anyone has done has worked so far, in spite of a Congressional Law & Humane NGO's. I read that the few mares let loose with Cloud were sterilized. Now that the BLM has the herds down to nothing they are saying that the herds aren't viable and should be 'zero-ed out'.......The purpose of the BLM has been soooo obvious.... for sooo long.... now it is accomplished....

  • They should let the horses go, They are wild and ment to be wild. I love horses yes but still horses that have never been touched by human hands shouldnt! that is just what i think :( i also wish that these older horses should be reunited with their lost families it breaks my heart to see them without such a thing in the world. Horses are so easily upset by the loss of another and seeing them from there families could devestate them but in time heal, I HOPE they will be released

  • Horses ? what are they now to me and many other people they are loyal companions To others they are horse meat and useless why dont we give them cows ? Horses are supposed to be Americas national Symbol of freedom i guess not anymore.
