1st January 1982, just before 09.30 TVS began an eleven year tenure of TV broadcasting for ITV in the South and South East of England. The initial v/o was provided by Malcolm Brown. Followed by the first programme from TVS, with Khalid Aziz.. Introducing the new Station and some of it's presenters and plans from the forthcoming schedule. With 'Good Luck' messages from 'celebrities' including - Frankie Howerd, Peggy Mount, Little and Large, Clive Dunn, Sandy Gall and Dora Bryan. Concluding with a Christmas Carol from the children of the Pestalozzi School in Sussex. TVS made many successful programmes for the ITV Network, in the process challenging the 'Big 5' Granada, Yorkshire,
Central, Thames and LWT to control the allocation of Primetime Networked programme slots - they tried but were unsuccessful in their challenge. The Copyright in this video segment belongs to TVS. © TVS Television South 1982
