  • @ABTheBeatmaker didn't word it well. i was also talking about the rest of the ansett fleet in regards to the scrapping, leasing and selling. the 727s were just sold to freighters. sorry. lol.

  • @Cronini some of the 727s were sold to various freight companies. Some were scrapped, some were released to lease holders and the rest were sold.

  • @11taurean Melbourne - Tulla.

  • James Packer and Lachlan Murdoch ... two little rich kids ... KILLED Ansett

  • Which airport was this Filmed at?

  • just wondering:

    - where did these 727's end up?

    - what happened to ansetts other aircraft? are these used by air new Zealand now?

    thanks

  • In the early eighties, TAA upgraded its DC-9s to "Super 30" interiors, just as Ansett was introducing 737-200s. Ansett's advertising at the time crowed, "Ansett - New 737s... Not Old DC-9s". Isn't it ironic, therefore, that Ansett was the last operator of 727s in Australia? (None of TAA/Australian Airlines' 727s made it into QANTAS ownership to my knowledge).

  • great video. Ive just uploaded news source of ansett australia and still more to come. enjoy

  • Toward the end of Ansett's days say 1995 onward the airlines management were working very hard to ensure the company had money in the back by years end. Something like the '5 year plan' or '10 year plan' i cant remember. Part of the plan was to retire the 727 and older 767-200's, purchase the CRJ200 and reorganise routes to different sub companies such as Kendell. Also non avaition related sub companies were being sold.

  • excellent video congratulations
