Using Max's horrible guitar, i played House of The Rising Sun and EFF it up a million times because the strings are effed and etc. just a dumb guitar.

just play this chord progression:

and for the rhythm just play the base note, then slowly strum down the strings and back up 3 strings

(listen to the song and just pick up the rhythm from that. It's pretty easy...
