I bought the brand new Traxxas SPARTAN in January.... I've been waiting FOREVER to take it out. Today was finally good enough to get it out for a few minutes and get enough video for a teaser clip. This boat is awesome!! 6S lipo ready and it screams like an angry bee. lol. Can't wait to run it some more. COME ON SUMMER!!!!

@drieseboy Yes you can, but you will have to run fresh water thru the pipes and so on after your run

Hey Jetlag, I have a spartan on the way and I also have a gopro hero2. I would like to know what the string does with the suction cup, is that security:P Or? And what is it attached to?

Yes, I definitely agree. It seems Aqucraft could have designed the lid of the UL-1 with some sort of rubber gasket. Then just insert in the front (like the Spartan) and pin down at the back compressing the rubber gasket slightly and creating a good seal. Otherwise an awesome performing boat, holds great in the turns!! I'm taking them both out again this morning. I live in Frisco, TX (north Dallas suburb) and have to beat the heat!! Take care and looking forward to more videos!! :-)

Did you get your Castle Creations Motor/ESC replacement in the mail? I also have this boat (in blue as well) and had trouble with my ESC. Traxxas just sent me the updated Castle set and I couldn't be happier. I took my UL-1 out today for the first time and was mighty impressed. I'm not sure which I prefer the Spartan deep "V" style or the Ul-1 hydro. Both are awesome!! :-)

@signboi23 - I purchased my spartan the very first week they were available, so I have the original power system. I have NEVER had any problems with it. I only run 6S lipo and I have NO overheating issues. So I don't need the new upgraded power system, although it sounds very good. lol. Also, glad you like the UL-1. It's a great hydro. Only think I don't like about it, is that you have to tape the top deck on every time you run. lol. wish it had pins instead of tape.

awesome video and quality,, look out for drifting branches ..... hey i heard from a few guys that the 6cell battery upgrade can cause the boat to catch fire... but than again thats traxxas problem,.....

Yeah there's some pretty interesting stories floating around on the internet about this boat overheating. Maybe they're true.. and maybe they aren't... all I can tell you for a fact is that I run (2) 3S 11.1v 5000mah lipos in mine and it hasn't overheated at all yet. And I am very happy with it.
