Hey guys I work for Modec, as it happens I'm their senior electronics systems engineer, the humming noise you can hear in this video isn't the van being charged - it's the power steering pump. Since the van is driven by an electric motor we don't have a crankshaft to drive ancillaries, so the power steering pump is run off an electric motor. Because the van is so quiet the noise of the pump is apparent - on an conventional truck it would be masked by the clatter of the diesel engine.
