Nixon didn't treat her badly. They had a very good marriage, and really liked each other a lot, considering Watergate and all that. He may have been a corrupt lier, but he was always nice to his wife.

As a young man growing up at this time, most of my generation hated Nixon. He was everything we despised and fought against. The young people who supported him were considered squares and buffoons. History has not treated Nixon much better since then, but when we consider who followed him -- Reagan, Bush 1 and Bush 2, Nixon seems like a bastion of intelligence. It takes a certain level of intelligence to be a paranoid bastard. When compared to George W Bush, Nixon is the epitome of brilliance.

@RJY4356 yeah i have the movie, but beyond that you can hear eirlicmann and haldemann talk to historians about how nixon seemed to think his life and destiny was interwoven with the kennedys. i honestly think he wanted 2 be loved like JFK/ RFK. but his own double dealings, backstabbing and treachery is what held him back. i feel like LBJ and Nixon were both ruined by feelings of guilt and the exhaustion of constantly being on the lookout for plots against them.

@pat442389 I don't thnk you osund kooky, in fact that sounds pretty spot on to me. Actually, if you haven't seen the 1995 Oliver Stone film, " Nixon" ( which hs a lot of flaws) you've basically just summarized the thesis of the whole movie there.

@RJY4356 call me a kook but i actually think nixon or a young nixon must have been a great kid but the deaths of his bros., his growing up in poverty and seeing ppl like JFK who seemed to be loved by the ppl and had life so easy made him incredibly jealous. i feel like he was maybe 2 old fashion during his admin. but must have had some dark secret or secrets he knew about the kennedy assassination and how power really works in this country. i think that ruined LBJ and Nixon and caused them pain

@campministries8 funny that your 2 and 4 usually rank in the bottom 4 of 44 presidents all time by historians. i actually think reagan/ bush and the iran countras / hostiges / octopus are much worse then the nixon watergate cover up. gw bush is the worst president of all time. he ruined everything, sat back and watched us get attacked, never found out where the antrax came from, missed bin laden, started illegal wars, lied 2 americans and soldiers 2 get us in those wars. killed the economy.
