  • ex-Express Aphrodite,Stena Adventure, Stena Hibernia, St Columba

  • Who knows?! I for one hope she'll be preserved, but that depends on others getting involved with setting up a preservation society for that purpose. All those in favour of that just say so now!

  • @EMERALDISLETV this is the second engine room fire

  • @EMERALDISLETV what will happen to her now thanks for updateing everyone

do you think she'll be scraped now

  • Good to see the St.Columba is still about.

  • Latest news is that the Masarrah is out of service following an engine room fire that has weakened her structure to the point where she can no longer be used in passenger service. @krugerfuchs No, but I am a regular visitor to the harbour.

  • @EMERALDISLETV you from dun laoghaire too

  • Not much space left in Holyhead these days due to other ferries operating out of there. Dun Laoghaire on the other hand will have nothing left if the HSS is scrapped as expected in 2013. A whole terminal lying empty and useless. It's bad enough that the original Carlisle terminal buildings have been demolished without everything else disappearing too. One is also more likely to get tourism funding in Ireland than in the UK at present for museums etc.....

  • @EMERALDISLETV it's nice you know about her i used to work on her i'v never got over her going because of that gas guzzling ugly shoebox hss i think if she was to come back it should be to holyhead

  • Built as the St Columba car ferry for Sealink, later Stena Line. Then Express Aphrodite in Greece, before becoming the Masarrah and moving to the Red Sea. Still in service as I write this, but here's hoping she will return to Dun Laoghaire one day in preservation as a museum.....
