The fourth part of A Better Oblivion focusses on the natural environments of Cyrodiil. Unique Landscapes provide incredibly improved environments, and by using, mixing, mashing, fixing, improving, adding on to mods and the game itself, I'm able to show you how Oblivion can look like, after a extended period of modding.

My vision also is to show you the game as it is, in-game; No unnecesary edits, or anything added onto it from outside the game and it's mods.

The editing (almost exclusively the rendering of the video, in fact) took me a lot more time than I hoped, and also had to horribly compress the video due to the fact that all the video editing software programs I found all seemed to hate HD and widescreen formats.
I'm sincerely hoping the video will end up decently, and i'll see if a higher quality version would help.

What do/did I wish to achieve in terms of editing?

A widescreen video in preferred HD 720p/1080p quality, pushing the boundaries of what Youtube can take.

Youtube's 100 MB 'limit' is being a huge troublemaker though. Higher quality versions I rendered didn't make it through, while in acceptable formats, and I had to give up after around ten attempts.

Overall quality of this vid came out decently, but it could have been a lot better if I could get my hands on a better editor, and better service from Youtube.

Mods used, and most seen:

Unique Landscapes Compilation (Omod Edition)
ENBSeries by Boris Vontsov (Provides shaders, shadowing, lighting, occlusion, bloom)
ScreenEffects (Provides colour correction, shadowing, lighting)
Better Trees and Vegetation (Gonna have to google that)

Character:
Chocolate Elves, based on the Corean Mod. This character is a level 1 test character to show how far character details has developed. Female characters show this better, naturally. More eye for detail, and all that..

Above mods are most represented. When I find the time I hope to show even more of the amazing work done by modders.

My work is only in adding and mixing these existing mods.

  • Hmm... I don't know much about OGE at the moment. Did you install OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender) though? It appears it's needed for it. Remember to always read the readme's so you know what you need!

    OBSE can be found at OBSE(dot)Silverlock(dot)org. Please support the creators, too. They made a lot of things possible for everyone.

    Hello DJBrinks,

    It's very simple; I turned off the music sound in the Options settings. ;)

    In Part 1 and 2 it was the music that played in-game, Part 3 was where I added the music afterwards, I believe. That had to do with syncing and higher quality music as a result.

    I hope that helps!

    As for the lighting; The lighting is improved by 'ScreenEffects'. Make sure to have a good graphics card that is able to run Shader Model 3.0 or higher, and possibly DX 10. Good luck!

  • Come to think of it, it would be cool to have them remake this game using those textures and renderings seen in this video on the PS3/360. Kind of like how Cyan remade MYST and created realMYST.
