  • @EMPassos The TraumaMan mannekin is not exactly anatomically correct, so it does look medial. The guy needs some arms!

  • @kaikalasmom Once you hear the pop of the Chest cavity inserting the needle, the air inside the chest cavity will evacuate through the Needle. Depending on the amount of negative pressure the "Hissing sound" might sound lower or louder. This is on a case by case basis. Also further needle decompression of the chest maneuvers in various locations will release pressure in other areas as well.

  • Many of the paramedics I'm training with who have performed the procedure in the field state that they've never heard a rush of air after inserting the needle. They couldn't speak to the fact that perhaps environmental factors don't allow you to hear it, but my question is, Is the rush of air is only heard in a specific patient or severe tension pnuemo thorax?
