Actually a Band of Canadian Pipe & Drum just won the Scotish Pipe & Drum in Scotland and this Canadian corp won the competition from precision drumming and bagpiping...Nice going Canada.

There's a lot of arguing on vid like this, so I'll clarify something. The brutishness of the Americans is exagerated in this scene, as is the professionalism of the Canadians. Their differances are rooted in truth, but the Americans weren't really so thuggish. It's just for film making purposes, to better highlight the differances in the characters of the two units. It makes for a more noticable character/group development later in the movie, and should not be judged historically.

@tequila1333 they didn't play the blue bonet on bagpipes, it sounds like scotland the brave, if thats what you mean.

@tequila1333 no it isnt that tune is british

Having been a side drummer in a regimental pipe band in Canada, I can tell you that the band portrayed is not actually playing, that the music is dubbed, that the entire patoon including Cliff Robertson is out of step with the beat and finally, that those actors must have had only a few minutes of drill instruction. When Canadian soldiers marched, their arms were brought forward parallel to the ground at shoulder height, and not swung lazily as these fellows show and American soldiers did.

@EldestSauce No one outside of Canada.

@CanadianStereotype no one actually knows what the maritimes are

@tequila1333 And this is actually Scotland the Brave a lot of the people that immigrated to Canada are of Scottish background.

@tequila1333 Canada was controlled by the French before the British, but at the time "Canada" was just a little bit of the Province of Quebec and some of the Maritimes.
@mrpaintballhead
this video wasn't posted for it's "authenticity".....simply as an example of a good entry march....it also clearly defines some of the differences in the US and Canadian forces illustrated in the film....if you were more than 12 years old, you'd get that...
