I was on holiday last Dec. 2011 and I captured some wonderful bird & nature scenaries during it. In my journeys I was able to visit a bird sanctuary. Even though it was the rainy season I was able to capture some of the lovely birds in it. The lakes and streams in the sanctuary were full of water.

From today I thought of uploading my latest series for all nature lovers and especially for those who love birds, and I hope you will enjoy it.

This video shows a short capture of a Common Tailor Bird and many Bulbuls in several visits. You can see their activities and how they enjoy the food , along with their amazing calls. I really like the Bulbuls with their short crest which gives them a squarish appearance and their red vents. The Tailor Bird is so amazing and when you read more info you are thoroughly impressed by this bird. Though the clip is only for a few secs., I was so happy to even capture this little bit.

Red-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus cafer)
=============================

Red-vented Bulbul is a member of the bulbul family of passerine birds. It is resident breeder in tropical southern Asia from India and Sri Lanka east to Myanmar and southwestern China, Fiji and Hawaii.

The Red-vented Bulbul is easily identified by its short crest giving the head a squarish appearance. The body is dark brown with a scaly pattern while the head is darker or black. The rump is white while the vent is red. The black tail is tipped in white.It is about 20cm in length, with a long tail.
Sexes are similar in plumage, but young birds are duller than adults. The flight is bouncing and woodpecker-like.

Red-vented Bulbuls feed mainly on fruit, nectar , petals of flowers, insects and occasionally geckos and insects.This is a bird of scrub, open forest, plains and cultivated lands.

Nests are occasionally built inside houses or in a hole in a mud bank. Nests in tree cavities have also been noted.

They breed from June to September. The eggs are pale-pinkish with spots of darker red more dense at the broad end.They are capable of having multiple clutches in a year. Nests are small flat cups made of small twigs but sometimes making use of metal wires.

Their vocalizations are usually stereotyped and they call throughout the year. However a number of distinct call types have been identified including roosting, begging, greeting, flight and two kinds of alarm calls.

The Red-vented Bulbul was among the first animals other than humans that was found to be incapable of synthesizing vitamin C.However a large number of birds were later found to likewise lack the ability to synthesize vitamin C.

They are important dispersers of seed of plants such as Carissa spinarum.

Common Tailorbird-(Orthotomus sutorius)
================================

The Common Tailorbird is a songbird found across tropical Asia with long tail often held upright. It is resident and breeds in its range.

Popular for its nest made of leaves "sewn" together,
Tailorbirds get their name from the way their nest is constructed. The edges of a large leaf are pierced and sewn together with fine grass or spider silk to make a cradle in which the actual nest is built.

It is a common resident in urban gardens, although they are shy birds that are usually hidden within vegetation.
This passerine bird is typically found in open farmland, scrub, forest edges and gardens. .
Common Tailorbird utters a rapid series of monotonous and repeated "chwee-o, chi-up, chee-rup". It also utters a rapid descending trill including five notes.
Their loud calls are familiar and give away their presence.
