  • Lowell George was a Howlin Wolf fanatic. Wolf first popularized the song which was written in 1929 by Roosevelt Sykes. When Lowell George finally got to meet his idol, back stage at a concert, he presented him with his new Stratocaster guitar and said "Man, play my guitar !!"

Wolf just looked at him and said "F... Off !!"

  • "So, I walk backstage, and there he was, Chester Burnett, the inventor of Rock and Roll. I had a brand new Stratocaster with me, and I hold it up to him, and say, 'Man! Play my guitar.' He turns around and says, 'Fuck off.'" - Lowell George on meeting Howlin' Wolf
