The west's (nato) lack of response to the Soviet/Chinese Communist sponsored terrorist attacks against Rhodesia (pre 1965 especially)is with out excuse. Simply put the Soviet Union sponsored attacks against the United Kingdom and got away with it! I wonder how the Soviet union would have responded to terrorist attacks sponsored by the United Kingdom against one of it's empire's colonial territories, like Uzbekistan?

You may well open a whole 'can of worms' debate with these remarks - despite the fact that they are pretty accurate, there are others who are bound to disagree!

I am a Russian from Soviet Central Asia. It might be true that Central Asia was a colony settled by Russians like Africa was settled by Europeans.

You are wrong about Ukraine and Belarus though. These two have been with Russia for many years. Russia began in Kiev and was called Kievan Rus. Belarus means White Russia. They were definitely not colonies but parts of Russia.

The Soviet Union was one of the biggest frauds of the 20th century. As the "Soviet Comrades" ranted and raved about the evils of Colonialism in Southern Africa; the "liberated lands" of the "Soviet Empire's" colonies of "Soviet Central Asia" were larger than all of Angola, Mozambique, Northern and Southern Rhodesia combined. That's not including their European colonies. (Ukraine, Belarus etc). The Russian Empire unlike the other European Colonial Empires lasted intact until 1991!
