http://www.meredithmanor.edu Meredith Manor students in Training I class were treated to demonstration rides this morning by Steve Gilbert, 1984 Meredith Manor graduate, and Nancy Wesolek-Sterrett, Meredith Manor Dressage Department head and 1989 graduate. Nancy rode her FEI dressage horse Wally and Steve rode his reining horse Willy. It was explained to the students how both horses had the same start in their training, working up the steps of the training tree, even though the finished product looks quite different. At the end, Steve and Nancy changed horses to demonstrate that if you have an independent seat and understand correct aids you can influence any horse no matter what game you are playing. It was a fun and informative time for everyone!

Dressage rider did a nicer job of planting the pivot foot on the reining horse than the western rider did. So fun seeing videos of the school on here. :)

Notice how Nancy spirals in and spirals out on her pirouettes to keep from having the horse stall if she feels like he's loosing impulsion.
Beautiful!
