Crazed far leftist forced to stand down from Committee — First blood in the ongoing battle between BNP-supporting teacher Adam Walker and the communist-inspired attempt to have him sacked, has gone to Mr Walker.

Judy Moorhouse, a former NUT president, who was due to sit on the General Teaching Council committee to judge Mr Walkers conduct, has been forced to step down from the hearing.

In a morning of high legal drama, Mr Walkers Solidarity Union representatives objected to Ms Moorhouses presence on the committee on grounds of bias. They cited a number of legal precedents, which in essence established a test for bias and that such bias can be caused by strong attachment to campaigns as well as pecuniary interest.

Mr Walkers representative at the hearing, Patrick Harrington, the general secretary of the Solidarity trade union, submitted that human rights law entitled his client to receive an independent and impartial tribunal.

Mr Harrington said that Ms Moorhouse was a known opponent of the BNP who had made public statements concerning its policies. He said: I believe that we have done enough to show that there is at least an appearance of bias and that any fair-minded observer would feel that there was a real possibility of bias.

The GTCs presenting officer, Bradley Albuery, told the panel that the Council had an absolute commitment to maintaining and ensuring confidence in the integrity of its hearings.

Mr Albuery said the Council itself did not resist Mr Harringtons application for Ms Moorhouse to step down, but that the issue of possible recusal must be decided by the panel.

Standing outside the GTCs offices in central Birmingham after the case was adjourned for lunch, Mr Walker addressed BNP supporters: I am a good teacher. Anybody who has been taught by me will tell you that. I think its absolutely disgusting that I am being hauled over the coals because of my political beliefs.

In a five-page judgment, the GTC committee accepted that it would be inappropriate for Ms Moorhouse, who is also the chair of the GTC, to continue to sit in on Mr Walkers case.

Panel members had been invited to consider whether a fair-minded and informed observer, having considered the facts of the case, would conclude that there was a real possibility of bias.

At the outset, the committee reminded itself of the importance of justice not only being done, but being seen to be done. Accordingly, as a committee, we have determined that it is not appropriate for Ms Moorhouse to continue to sit as a member of this committee.

The allegation against Mr Walker is that between February and March 2007 he used a school laptop to visit the BNP web site.

The hearing in Birmingham was marked by the presence of well over 50 BNP demonstrators, led by BNP leader Nick Griffin. All had turned out to support Mr Walker, and there was great jubilation when the clearly biased Ms. Moorhouse was dismissed from her own organisations committee.

The hearing has now been adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Where do you think the English came from, just magically appeared from thin air? Focusing on ethnic tribes and ethnicity is merely a distraction. But the trendy killjoys are the genuinely prejudiced ones, for example when you consider that Pakistani drivers remain unmolested for flying their own national flags from taxis.
