Four days after I'd seen James (http://www.kinetic-revolution.com/) for an analysis of my running I was back at the track to start making changes.
The focus for the day was teaching me to actively use my hamstrings to lift my heel and to avoid engaging my hip flexors and quads. James talked me through a series of drills to develop this process along with enabling more of a forward lean and more active arm movement.
After 40 minutes of drill work I ran a few laps of the track attempting to 'naturally' use the new techniques. Even after such a short time there are already changes when I'm consciously focussing on the new approach.
