Bangalore: They are among corporate India's top families and now their children are tying the knot. As Narayana Murthy's son gets set to marry TVS MD Venu Srinivasan's daughter, it looks like a perfect marriage of business and pleasure. "I have read the Bhagvad Gita, the Mahabharata, but my reading is not as deep as Rohan's. He has taken several courses in philosophy and now, Sanskrit at Harvard," said a proud NR Narayana Murthy of his son's eclectic interests.But is there more to the engagement of Rohan Narayana Murthy with Lakshmi Venu than just a merger of equal minds.The marriage of the daughters of the late Dhirubhai Ambani with the sons of the Dempo and Kothari group of businesses did not change any power stakes in the Reliance group. Nor did the Essars with Datamatics, despite a marriage in between.

Six of the seven founders of Infosys own less than 20% of the company's shares. Rohan himself has a stake of 1.39% - valued at Rs. 2300 crore - but the iconic N R Narayana Murthy has hinted in the past that his son may not play any role in Infosys.

Rohan had in fact told NDTV early this year about his plans to set up the Murthy classical library at Harvard University, his alma mater.

"Through a series of random accidents, I landed up in a philosophy class! Being taught by Prof. Parimal Patil and I had never studied philosophy prior to that. We studied 5th century debates between Buddhist philosophers and Mimamsika philosophers in India. This was something new to me," said Rohan.

For now, it just seems that for their only daughter, the Srinivasans of Chennai couldn't have found a more `Suitable Boy' than the only son of Sudha and Narayana Murthy.
