Yay! 300 subs! Thank you!

First haircut in 5 years = still trying to get used to not needing to wrestle with it constantly.

I'm teaching myself Chinese. I must say, I am exceptionally grateful to teachers and to myself that I've studied six languages before this one. Otherwise, I would be completely lost right now.

Is less-than-5% of the comments coming from the target audience worth making the video? Is it worth the headache of the other 95%?

James, a good online friend who has far surpassed me in subscribers and actually being able to hit his target audience: http://www.youtube.com/user/DasAmericanAtheist

Oh, any background noise is from across the street. They destroyed the putt putt course and are now putting dirt on dirt for some reason.

  • you can never truly fully learn latin.

  • One can never truly, fully learn any language. No one knows the meaning and the correct usage of every word in the dictionaries of their on native tongue (except, possibly, a few who have savant syndrome).

Just because I can't learn an entirety of any language does not mean that I shouldn't try.

  • oh goodness I did not intend to imply that you shouldn't try. I was just noting that there's always more latin and I'm a fan of it.

  • Haha, well I'm relieved, then.

  • hey its sickofsickness from james' stickam. everyone has this '100 2771' title. what does it mean? i feel so dirty and...ignorant.

  • My camera saved the file as 100 2771.

In my attempt to edit my video information while it was uploading, I learned that, for some unknown reason, "<" destroys everything you entered. So, when the video uploaded, there was no information except the file name: 100 2771.

It got some fun images on the side, though, didn't it?

  • Sorry ran out of room. My point is, when creationists start arguing with me about evolution, it's almost a side issue and a way for them to avoid a real debate about theism. I find it a hilarious dodge. Plus I'm tired of being asked to "prove evolution." These people can go read about it themselves. I'll give them sources, but I don't debate evolution ANYMORE! It's like debating gravity! My favorite response "You just want to be an animal not responsible for you actions." WOW!

  • If the video asks a question state in the video that comments that do not answer the question will be deleted and ignored. Don't let yourself be baited by these creationists. Plus, and keep in mind I am an agnostic/atheist, what the heck does Evolution have to do with God? In my opinion, they are not mutually exclusive. Even if evolution by some impossible miracle were proven wrong, it would not make me believe in a god. I guess they just can't stand that it disproves genesis and THEIR god.

  • I have an idea. Recruit a few people to filter through comments, looking for ones that provide an adequate answer to your question and have them send you those comments in a message alongside a link to the profile of the person who made the comment in the first place. Personally I would be honored to be one of those people, that is if you think my idea is a good one. Nice haircut by the way, you look even sexier than you did before.

  • Nice hair.

  • I'd gladly help you out with some of the responses, but you're questions would be much better than mine since you are educated better than myself. And I did watch the entire video, and am trying to catch up on all the ones I've missed in the past year :D

  • I'd have so much to say about free will. I really would love to see that video get posted. Keep on going with it, I'm sure the people who really are trying to find truth in any of these discussions will be able to toss aside the ignorant, random, and stupid comments. And share the headache, let some of the others respond to the aformentioned comments as is appropriate, and in their ability to answer, or dismiss.

  • I studied mandarin in college for 4 semesters and man was it difficult. That was over 10 years ago, but I still remember my first lesson:

Gao Xiansheng, ni hao ma? Wo hen hao, ni ne? Hao, xiexie. Gao taitai, Gao xiaojie ye hao ma? Tamen dou hao, xiexie. Zaijian Gao Xiansheng. Zaijian. Haven't spoken a word of it in 10 years but I can still pick up a bit here and there when eavesdropping on a conversation. Good luck with it!

  • I say keep up making the religion videos, but ONLY RESPOND to the 5% who actually address your content and show that they have followed subsequent discussion. As for the rest, spare yourself the time (and headache) of responding.

Although I'd also like to see more language videos, particularly on "nerdier" aspects such as grammar. For example, I just recently learned that most European languages -- including English -- are in the minority with SVO word order... most languages are SOV.
