Inspired by the poetry of Robert Service, here is one of our original songs Copyright Bluefroger Songs/Robert Service 2008 We hope you like it.Service was a English/Canadian poet who's words are very lyrical. We were pleased to get permission to put these words to music. Evocative ,emotional,precise Service was all of these.
We hope you enjoy.Country Joe McDonald also covered Service on his album WAR WAR War in 1971.
Lyrics
They turned him loose, he bowed his had,
A felon, bent and gray.
His face was even as the Dead,
He had no word to say.
He sought the home of his old love,
To look on her once more;
And where her roses breathed above,
He cowered behind the door.
She sat there in the shining room;
Her hair was silver gray.
He stared and stared from out the gloom;
He turned to go away.
Her roses rustled overhead.
She saw with sudden start.
"I knew that you would come," she said,
And held him to her heart.
Her face was rapt and angel-sweet;
She touched his hair of gray;
. . . . .
But he, sob-shaken, at her feet,
Could only pray and pray.
Thank you means a lot!!

This is just great. I'm afraid I can't compete with the dog's bollocks comment above but I share the sentiments. :-)

Terrific. I love the way your contrasting voices blend, and the wonderful surprise of the guitar solo. Every element in this song works beautifully to complement Service's story. Five stars.

Incidentally, can I just say this isn't anything like Van. It belongs in the Leonard Cohen section! Effing wonderful!!! And I love that old geezer playing the guitar - a lovely tone & touch. Just beautiful.
