"The longer you are trapped with the same person, it will start to feel like home. Stockholm!"

This really made me laugh, especially since I literally just finished explaining to someone how Beauty and the Beast is a clear example of Stockholm Syndrome.

I get pretty annoyed when people say the Belle and the Beast were in an abusive relationship. Early in the film when she feels threatened she leaves. After he saves her from the wolves she's grateful but still stand up to him when he's being a jerk and his character arch in the movie is to change and mature as a person. Later when he realizes he's being a monster by keeping her there he lets her go she LEAVES and only comes back when Gaston (who's the real abuser) comes with a mob to kill him.

With that logic, who's to say Gaston wouldn't have gone through the same change.......with the imprisonment and threatening. Had she gone with Gaston from the start, then the beast, after the rose died, probably would have become a real monster.

Oh and i think you forget the beginning of the story where the beast was EXACTLY like gaston and thats why the witch changed him.

It's funny but anyone who agrees with this has really missed the point of the story.

A lot of Disney films are messed up if you stop and think about them. I mean, Tangled has a villain we're supposed to hate as she' a Witch who kidnapped a princess, except the Princess was the only thing keeping her alive so it made her motives entirely understandable... then again, the moral lsson in Hunchback is if yoru ugly but nice you are still a eprson but the hot girl will still run off with the hunky good looking blonde.
