Tamils in Jaffna Nallur celebrate Thaipongal on grand scale

Tamil Hindus in Sri Lanka celebrate Thaipongal on a grand scale. A special Pooja was organised at the Nallur Kovil in Jaffna. Our representative Kelum Gunatilake said it was attended by a large number of devotees.(15/01/2008)

Thaipongal traditions were the highlights in Vavuniya, Jaffna, Mannar, Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi. Eastern civilians also had the opportunity of celebrating the festival on a grand scale after 20 years. It is the first Thaipongal Festival, which followed the liberation of the Eastern Province from the clutches of the tiger terrorists. Special religious observances were organised in Kokadicholai, Vakare, Vavunativu and Wellaveli . Many Hindus participated in these poojas.




A special Thaipongal Festival organised at the Foreign Ministry yesterday was held under the patronage of Minister Rohitha Bogollagama. Among the participants were Minister Douglas Devananda, Depputy Minister Hussain Bahila, foreign diplomats in Sri Lanka and Foreign Secretary Dr. Palitha Kohonna. Chief Priest of the Manikka Pillayar Kovil in Bambalapitiya, conducted the Hindu religious observances.

No connsensus needed at all. Pukakaran does NOT want the war to end. In the pretext of collecting for the very last war (each year) he pockets millions and creates bank accounts for his family for foreign education, luxury lifestyle and foreign trips. He is a master thief who played out a whole ethnic race!
