If you grew up in the 80's or 90's in the Belleville, IL (St Louis, MO) area, you probably know about B Street Bar. Just a local bar, but it had a lot of "character", or rather "characters"... Cutting-edge (hate that term, but that's the best I could come up with) bands from St Louis, as well as local bands that went on to bigger and better things (i.e., The Primitives, who begat Uncle Tupelo, then Wilco and Son Volt. Also, the Snowmonkeys who became the Well Hungarians). Our band, the Symptoms, played there once a month for-ever, as did The Seen, Charlie Langrehr, etc. Just a real cool place to watch music and have a beer.
Hey just found this by accident, but I played the B Street Bar too. My name's Kimberley and I was the bass player with Langrehr, and I was playing that night Charlie put his head in the fan - or more accurately, bought the corner of the piece of plywood holding up the video projector. I don't know how many different line-ups Charlie actually played there with, but I was in the one that played there a whole bunch of times. Had some fans from over at Scott AFB who used to come regularly.
