I think the reason why was because the TV series came on right around the time that the second book was published, making the second book more relevant in the eyes of the young children watching the show, as they were more likely to have read that instead of the original

I like the Goosebumps 9000 intro better than the original. It truly is scarier. All of the clips are from the show. They filmed all the episodes before they made the intro. I hated the opening intro of this episode. It was so stupid with the kid filming the family. This episode was a good episode, but I prefer the Bride of the Living Dummy. The slappy dummy that is in the book is much scarier than the one in the show. The eyes from the one in the book peer into your soul.
