@kirasan1980 I am a musician. I realize that when another musician takes my song and COVERS it, giving me credit for writing/originally performing it, there is no higher form of flattery and I should EMBRACE that instead of PROSECUTING them.
That being said, if some asshole takes my exact music file and posts it claiming it's theirs, I'm going to fuck them up. But that's rare. Mostly, greedy publishing companies dick over harmless musicians. It's a fundamental misconception of the market.

maybe copyrights do stifle creativity, but they also prevent people from stealing other people's work and calling it their creativity. If you were the original artist you would be pretty pissed about that after the effort you put in to create it, and then someone takes it just like that. If you want to use work by the copyright holder within your own work you can ask them, sometimes they don't even charge as long as long as you give them credit for their work.

yikes.. i kind of thought that. All these friggan programs trying to access the web. Is it just me or are copyrights really stifeling everyones creativity?
