What it means to be a US Marine

If you ask a Marine "What it means to be a Marine" They'll use words like, "The Few, The Proud", "Honor, Courage, Commitment", "Being apart of something bigger than yourself", but mostly they'll just shake their heads and say "It's something that's hard to explain" or "If you're not a Marine you won't understand". It's actually one of the few times Marines get silent. They'll tell you how it feels to be a Marine, how people treat them differently, with more respect, and a sense of awe. It's a fact that most civilians don't have a clue what makes Marines tick! And that's not a bad thing. Because if they did, it would scare the hell out of them! So if you're a civilian, don't be afraid of us, be thankful, be appreciative. Hire us when we get out of the corps, we make great employees. If you know an injured Marine, help them, they won't accept the help, but do it anyway. If you know a Family that lost a Marine, help them, set up a scholarship fund, hang a picture of that Marine in your home or office and tell their story. They were proud to be Marines, they were proud to serve their country, but most importantly never, ever forget what they gave up to give you. They knew the score, they knew what might be required, but they did it anyway. This after all is "What it means to be a Marine"

Not to offened anybody,but don't you think a lot of the reasons they give can be applied not to just other branches, but also to other militaries around the world? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing but respect for these people, but you could just as easily say pretty much everything these gu have said about other branches... maybe that's just me, but it's what i seemed to get from this video.

What you people need to stop doing is stereotyping. Marines might be trained to fight and kill but that doesn't mean they're all brainwashed heartless people. I joined the Corps for the love of GOD and Country, I am a devoted Christian and Patriot. I signed for Infantry, yet I am not taking Pride in the fact that I will have to kill possibly. The the Government makes it so that people see it as a great opportunity to join the military , hey we've made it so hard to live but look its a magic way to get school payed for and everything,. All you have to do is be the world banks personal protectors. After all the wars are over money and resources when it comes down to it. I respect the men and women that join they have all my respect.
