  • He adds "nothing too heavy" cuz when he saw her, he saw that she had too many problems("grieving over loss, sorry to be heavy, but heavy is the cost.") and he didn't wanna deal with it. "must enjoy the sun, must enjoy the sea"

and the "is it you or me?" he's asking if he's the problem or the women, and "it wasn't meant to be", maybe it's both.

  • I agree, beautiful.

  • This is beautiful. Makes me slightly sad :/

  • Ty YouTube comments for helping me understand the morale of the song. It's so beautiful.

  • He Just Sent Out The Same Ad, Looking For Another Person.

  • @JokerPurp What are you talking about? the last verse goes "wanted Single F: under 33" it's the exact same ad, he just adds "nothing too heavy"...

  • @sf12bravo you do understand he's looking for a guy in his second ad (last verse) after he stands up the girl....? that's what makes this song so interesting

  • I'll admit, I cry during Caroline's "I never got your name" verse. She opens herself up, for once, and gets rejected for it. Hard not to feel that.

  • Absolutely beautiful. Can't find anything wrong with it.

I find it moving when she sings "I never got your name, I assume you're 33" and the "i was sure you saw me, but it wasn't meant to be" because it kind of shows that he wasn't actually looking for a committed relationship.

Also, i think that when he says "is it you or me?" he's referring to whether it was hi fault that they didn't develop a relationship, or hers. It could also have been hers because she had difficult problems.

  • @izcuje Indeed, he could have at least met up with her, had a drink and just been honest and said she wasn't what he was looking for, instead of making her waste her time waiting for an hour lol

  • @mtw951 ...no she says "grieving over loss, sorry to be heavy, but heavy is the cost"... heavy like she has issues/baggage because she is not healed over a recent loss/tragedy.... lol, it's not that literal

  • @sf12bravo ...very beautiful song... thanks for this insight, makes the song that much more meaningful ;)
