Google+, the latest social development from the search giant, is continuing to gain extreme hype. WebProNews recently spoke with several search and social media leaders including Lee Odden of TopRank Online Marketing, Steve Rubel of Edelman, Li Evans of LiBeck Integrated Marketing, Barry Schwartz of RustyBrick, Loren Baker of BlueGlass, and speaker and author Mari Smith to see what they thought about Google+.

While they all believe that it is definitely Google's best attempt at social, they equally agree that there is still a lot that needs to be done to it. For instance, they would like to see further integration of Google products, an improved mobile experience, and better sharing capabilities, to name a few.

Even if Google makes these enhancements, the big question that everyone is pondering is: Will it have the power to control social in the same way that it does search? What do you think?

  • I think it a lot more understandable/discoverable than Facebook and so far they've pretty much matched the basic FB experience. That's a good start, but now they need to go beyond. To get people with a big investment in FB to move they need to be *obviously* better.

So far they only thing I've noticed in that direction is not being caught by FB's ridiculous text limit.

  • It feels to early to tell if it will be as successful or even be able to over-take facebook. But it doesn't seem that simple to use.

  • I agree, FB is commiting career suicide by messing with privacy. I don't think Google will

  • Google is on its right track now on entering the social media landscape, keep it up! Hopefully they will not mess it up by violating our privacy. By the way, what can you say about its "Real Name Policy"?
