brilliant, that opening scene just sucks you in.

I'm surprised it even got made. this movie is unreal. It tells me that the old ways still matter. At least i think. Do you think the old methods can still be made today?

This entire movie is about the futility of the old ways (honorable etc) The movie is about how ruthlessness can limit (but not completely remove) chance, giving you the best odds of getting what you want. The whole movie we watch as the sheriffs refusal to accept this reality and believe morality to be something of a universal law leads him to lose to anton. Anton tries to act as an agent of chance, trying to remove it from himself How this the world is cruel and no place for soft old men.
