This video is from the stone age of digital videotaping. I used a Sony MAVICA FD-91 which was able to take digital pictures on 1.44 MB floppy disk. As a special feature you also could take a 15 second 320x240 pixel videoclip with sound on a 1.44 MB floppy as MPEG, which could be used instantly to be put up on a website and was small enough to be sent as an eMail attachment. The MPEG format Sony used was a special "taste" trying to put it in regular video editors and cutting programs blew up the filesize or degraded quality so I developed a method to cut and splice the MPEG file by "hand" using a HEX editor.
I shot the video 1999 at the gem & mineral show in Saint-Marie-aux-Mines, Alsace, France which takes place every year at the last weekend of June and is the "Tucson of Europe" with an unmatched atmosphere. Informations about the actual show you will find under http://www.minerapole.com !
