Jamie Smith, aka Jamie xx, is a British DJ and producer most known for his work with indie/pop band The xx. He gravitates towards hip-hop because of the genre's roots in jazz and soul and brings out these subtleties in his sensational electronic remixes for artists like Florence + the Machine, Adele and the late Gil Scott-Heron. We sat down for an intimate chat with Jamie, where we found out how he makes his drum beats, what's in his designer tool kit and why it's nearly impossible to explain why you like a certain track.
