(comment that I accidentally removed) Thanks for the response. Great video. I agree that I sort of glossed over the benefits of doing good, and there certainly are those benefits you mentioned. My hypothetical situation was unrealistic, and I tried to make that clear. I guess my point with the hypothetical was that if there was a situation where these benefits to yourself did not exist...if you knew you would get nothing in return it really is only this sense of guilt that stands in the way...

Oh yea...Forgot to mention that I agree with your points on religion. If God says something is good, why is it good? Because he's powerful? Good points.

And so I was trying to examine if we should care about this sense of guilt while trying to take into account why we have this sense of guilt to begin with. If it's just an instinct which sometimes helps with survival of the group, should we care about it? Or should we look at it or should I look it at it and say screw it. This instinct isn't helping me so I should overcome it for my own benefit. I am not saying that this is my conclusion...but a possibility.
