Fr. Couperin Messe `l' usage des Paroisses Kyrie 1er couplet Plainchant en Taille

The "Messe à l' usage des Paroisses", unlike her sister (conceived «pour les Convents de Religieux et Religieuses»), is based upon the «plainchant en taille», from the Mass «Cunctipotens genitor Deus», what gives it one specific characteristic: the lack of tonal unity (also unlike the Second Mass), according to its model. Nevertheless, the "Première Messe" is endowed with a deep sense of unity and musical equipoise.
In the "premier couplet du Kyrie" the "plainchant" bursts into our sensibility, rising from the «jeux d'anches» in the tenor region ("en taille"), on the grounds of an impetuous "Grand Plein Jeu", extremely dense and massive as was usual.
The "Plainchant du premier Kyrie, en Taille" is written in four parts.

The, so to speak "heavenly trickiness" (Dictionary definition:Requiring caution or skill) always present in french organ repertoire demands, for that specific reason, a artist who is fully capable to profit from this composition characteristics that may become real traps for the non advised and/or unexperienced player; in other words, to be able to transform "iron shackles into garlands of flowers", and no one has done like GG; another musical reincarnation proof!!
