March 5, 2009: Mom arrives at the nest and begins alarm calling. Dad joins her, and the two watch the sky and continue to call out. We can't see the danger, but it could be other bald eagles with an eye on the nest. When the danger passes, Mom and Dad return to the business is restoring and arranging the nest, but both remain alert.
No eggs yet.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR JUST BEFORE EGG-LAYING
Female sitting down on nest more and more
Female reluctant to leave the nest area
Male may bring fish (herring) for her to eat
IMMINENT EGG-LAYING
Female's feathers stick out like a porcupine
Her body starts contractions, every two or three seconds
She opens her beak a quarter inch and emits grunts with each contraction
This may last for 3 or 4 minutes
