VILLIKON CHRONICLES: vintage casting call (1998)

Not everyone is cut out to play 'make believe' for a living. Pronounced [mis-teer], her name is similar to 'mystery' [mis-tuh-ree], which by definition is: Anything kept secret or remains unexplained or unknown. That is exactly how sexy cult-favorite 'Mystere' is first presented to protagonist Kort Villikon in "THE VILLIKON CHRONICLES" graphic novel series.

As 'Mystere' became increasingly more popular with readers, we decidedly launched a controversial campaign of appearances that blazed across the comic book convention circuit. The face we chose was Penthouse Pet and popular screen siren, Cara Fawn (formerly Cheyenne Silver). But before she claimed the role as the most recognizable 'Mystere' and before the models who represented her likeness in the original graphic novel series, "THE VILLIKON CHRONICLES" was a film script preceding the comics and the GENESIS OF EVIL film. In 1998, a slew of hopefuls read for the originally planned film.

An assortment of beauties have worn the boots of Mystere, and the same as multiple actors have portrayed James Bond, Superman, and Batman's nemesis, Catwoman - many have tried on the boots of Mystere. This vignette is is a mini-retrospective look back at the original 1998 casting call. Watch and enjoy! See if you can spot the Brittany Spears and Renee Zelwegger look-a-likes or the Sharon Stone sounding mimic, and the 'Pedro' clone who appears here long before NAPOLEON DYNAMITE launched the 'Vote for Pedro' craze.
