Just as you think LSA cockpits can't get any better, along comes something like the Dynon Skyview, a new multi-screen dual sensor EFIS system. AVweb's Paul Bertorelli got a tour of the new product from Flight Design's John Hurst.

  • If I was in the market for a LSA and had 150K I would buy the Icon A5.

  • @everyone Please take a look over the Pipistrel Virus SW, it has no competitors at ALL and is cheaper.

  • Personal preference is like politics. U say tomato I say tomahto .Truth of the matter is we all Luv the Heck out of aviation to even post our comments. I’m glad 2 there both sides. I’m nu & did really well on the CT except for landing/site picture. $ hands down you will save with the CT .The 172 w glass is sweet to fly & beautiful to land. People R saying that the CT is a sports car but I feel more like it’s a roomy compact W some nice bells & whistles VS a Chevy Suburban in the Cessna 172

  • I flown both the Cessna 172 and the CTLS. I'd much rather own a CTLS. Easier to fly and a hell of a lot more fun! Only down side is the baggage space and it's only a 2 seater. But, I'll bet you we'll see bigger models as they become more popular.

  • I wonder what happens if you have a complete electrical failure and have no analog backup instruments...

  • @derek954

Cessna / Crappy Engineering Shit Service No Airspeed

  • Derek, I agree 100% with ya. Only reason I'd ever consider a 172 is if was going to be carrying more than 1 passenger. I feel safer in a CT and its so much more economical. People forget that this a real LSA, and can be used to get your private ticket because its night and IFR capablitites.

  • But if you really want to compare apples to apples you should look at the cessna 162 that is made in CHINA. But you cant compare them quit yet because they are chinese junk and have so many problems they keep pushing back release dates.

  • I love how people compare apples and oranges. For everyones information this plane also has auto pilot and can be flown at night. Furthermore this plane has a 10 inch wider cockpit than a cramped172 and burns about half the fuel, even has 100 mile more range. Also cessna lists the new 172 at a wopping $269,000 base price! The ctls is $159,000 fully loaded with a ballistic parachute!

  • Check on Cessna's website, a brand-new 172 with G1000 and autopilot is $220,000.

  • It depends on what kind of flying you like to do. I've flown Cessna's and I've flown the CT with the D100. The 172 flys like a minivan and burns over 2x the fuel. The CT has the milage of an Accord, and flys like sports car + has a parachute to save your ass. You really can't compare the two. IMO, for fun nothing beats flying a CT! This is the FD top of the line, your not got get Cessna's top 172 for 220,00. There are plenty of used CTs out there in the 70-90k range.
