Skip ahead to 7:00 to bypass the dialog if you want. This is a boss you can make real easy or real hard depending what you use or don't use. You can basically choose your own hard difficulty here by not healing, not using Vengence Slips and not using Steel Fist Sake. I did it the easy way though because I wanted the Yen bonuses. The last fight is against the final phase of the Lord of Darkness, Yami. This strategy is based on using Amaterasu's powered up Thunder Edge as a main weapon and powered up Eighth Wonder as the secondary (and the skill that increases damage when two Glaives are equipped). As with my other boss videos, my strategy isn't absolute and I wouldn't mind other effective strategies or advice posted as comments.

After an almost 7 minute long scene of dialog (kinda reminds me of the Earthbound final battle) Amaterasu will now be at the peak of her power. In this very last form of Yami, he'll attack you with everything he has and some moves are nearly if not impossible to dodge. The core will now be on the big hand and you have a really small window of opportunity to attack it. Use your Vengence Slips and Steel Fist Sake and get as close to the core as possible and wail away on it. There really isn't much more to it than that except don't try using your brush strokes on it because like in his 4th phase, the core will close up once you open your scroll. If you're really really fast with your brush you may be able to Power Slash the core once or twice but I don't think that is the best method.

  • I think placing the soundtrack The Sun Rises gives the player a ray of hope when battling Yami (The sun rises as Shiranui/Ammy rises too). It's not like the other games that contain a sad or terror soundtrack when battling a final boss. This soundtrack it's absolutely brilliant and fits perfectly!

  • I completed it twice now and that scene always brings me to bawl my eyes out THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVA!!! I LOVE OKAMI!!!

  • @Xanatrix I think the only other game ive cried about recently was bioshock 2's good ending. But then again im a sucker for violin ><

  • One question to the video maker; were you aware that continuously drawing Sunrise at this point in the fight makes Yami stunned over and over again? It's the easiest way to beat him. Just a helpful tip; not actually trying to rage or troll.

  • @Athanase48067 You too? This scene is some powerful stuff. I had never played a game where the emotions ran this hot before, and not one since, either. Even some of my other favorite games fail to compel this much emotion from me.

  • i love this game i cried in the end

  • @Skullazzz more like a sea otter

  • I loved the feeling I got in this where you realize that you are going to wipe the walls with the boss.

  • @GaurdianWolf2009 i haven't played the game.... but this scene right here dried my tears right away... i'm going to find this game...

  • Intro music?
