Yes, Sam McGee was a real live person who lived in Dawson City. He was not too pleased when he found out about the use of his name but he learned to live with it!
mr magee was an amalgam of all the poor souls who struck out to make their furtunes and died perhaps with that last longing to see home once more. nicely told perfectly voiced. i enjoyed it. the vocal talent i think i recognised from his work in the 60's. Kai to the uploader!!!
My grandmother is a poet and she always use to tell this story. I would laugh so hard. Now that I am listening to it.. it is not even funny. Why did I laugh?
