My reasoning is that I cant tell you for certain if a " God " , or some sort of supreme being exists . Something like that is ultimately impossible to prove or disprove .
I just believe that the jewish bible/ old testament -upon which the abrahamic faiths are based on - doesnt hold up under scrutiny and is based on fictional characters and events .
I mean really , have you ever had a snake talk to you ?

The holy books are clearly a Product of the people who where alive when it was written, it shows their fears, superstitions and cultural guidelines.
*God* has definatley nothing to do with it, its MAN made not GOD made.

Hitchens sais that Mother teresa had double standards, she fought against divorce in christianity, but was happy when her friend princess Diana got one... she fought against abortion, but had babies dying from poverty ... Hutchens piece on her had nothing to do with ethnicity , or that she was albanian.

All we atheists want is hard evidence of a god.
Believing in something is irrelevant. You can believe in the boogeyman but that doesn't make the boogeyman a real being.
Simply said we don't know if there is a being called God, Allah, Yahweh etc. But all religion does is make claims that cannot be backed up whatsoever.
It's basically a bunch of anecdotes that some ancient ghostwriters claimed is the truth. Furthermore what quality to the faithful possess that non believers don't?
