Christmas Tree on Fire

A real time video of a dry Christmas tree burning. In less than fifteen seconds this tree becomes a raging inferno. Imagine if this were in your home. I'm making the case for keeping your holiday tree fresh by cutting the trunk and keeping water in the stand. What's more, when the season is over, remove the tree from this house.

Holy crap. Suddenly it's much easier to justify owning a fake Christmas tree.

Evergreen trees produce natural oils in their fir's. When the tree dries out it leaves only the wood (fire fuel), and oils (more fire fuel).

Anyway, if you're ever in the wilderness it's a lot of fun to just chuck a bunch of sap branches into a fire pit. However, in terms of home safety-- I guess don't be so lazy about your tree.
