@jymbob9547 - You can't claim a beach spot like a regular mining claim, but you can collect black sands. It just takes tons and tons to amount to much.
Too bad about the glue, but still a really cool find.
Sounds good. Hope to see you then. I best get back to work now though. Have a pile of products to add to our site before sales pick up for Christmas...
Hey, just want to reinforce a couple of quick points. The reason I was collecting with a camera is because it really is illegal, and dangerous, to dig in the cliffs. So in case I didn't hit that hard enough -- NO DIGGING IN THE CLIFFS.
Second, I linked to a cool crab for sale at Fossil Mall. But that crab was collected from the Lookingglass Formation, not here. You can't collect from Beverly Beach and then sell your proceeds. It's not a get-rich quick scheme.
He's too modest to mention it, but Garret's written 2 books "Gem Trails of Washington" and a new one "Gem Trails of Oregon". Great reference books for the local rockhound or visitor.

@BlackCatMining - yes, that's an agatized snail that Marty found. Had to glue it back together...
I should be in your neck of the woods next Spring. Let's stay in touch!

Garret, is that snail shell at the end one of the agatized gastropods you mentioned? Beautiful specimen, and cool video!
BTW, nice to meet you. If you ever come through Harrisburg (down near Eugene), stop by the shop and say hello.
