@mdmguyon that's stupid. how could he be the leader of both at the same time. and that's great and all for america, but how would the war of gone if nearly 2/3 of the allies didnt participate? all of europe and asia up to the urals would either be speaking german, or nearly half the globe would be speaking russian.

Joe Kennedy Sr. tried to keep the US out of WW2 (the greatest and most tragic catastrophe in history -- and not by any means solely due to Adolf Hitler). When FDR recalled him from his post for opposing his warmongering and violations of neutrality, he actually thought FDR might try to have the ship he was on sunk and blame it on Germany. (Not unreasonable considering he knew FDR was trying to get U-boats to sink US ships for the same reason.)

Joe's reputation went straight to hell after he claimed Hitler would take over the world. Joe had admired Hitler because of his power. FDR had also hated Joe Kennedy Sr.
