***** VOLZ WAS FREED 12.21.07 AFTER OVER A YEAR IN PRISON - THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE SUPPORTERS WHO HELPED MAKE THIS HAPPEN ***** Dateline interviews Eric Volz and his mother Maggie Anthony. Volz spent 13 months imprisoned in Nicaragua for a crime he didn't commit. There were 10 witnesses putting Eric in Managua over two hours away from the scene at the time of the murder, and there was no forensic evidence linking Eric in any way to the crime. The prosecution's main evidence was the testimony of a co-defendant who exchanged immunity for stating that he saw Eric at the scene of the crime.

I am a Nicaraguan. I am sorry for what has happened to Eric.

This great country of the USA was gracious to adopt me after the Soviet Union, East Germany and Cuba invaded us in 1979 , raping all of us,burning our homes and dreams as well.

As you can see, our country is full of ignorance, vigilantisms, poverty,hunger and hopelessness.Pray for srta. Alvarado , Nicaragua and that justice prevails.

You are innocent intil proven guilty. There was no physcial evidence that linked him to the murder. If this had happen in the United States and the suspect was hispanic he would be let free because their wasn't any physical evidence. Here in the U.S we are fair to immigrantes when it comes to the criminal justice system and plus we have good technology to examine evidence to put someone at the scene of a crime. In Nicaragua their criminal justice system is unfair.

I feel bad for the victim and the accused. Justice seems to be lacking and concentrating on Eric instead of othes possible suspects. The victim's mom is not helping either. She needs to open her eyes to other possibilities. It is sad that her daughter was a slut. Rip lovely child but, we need to look to ourselves and question, why the victim put herself in that position. Maybe she was killed by the other man and not Eric.

@Pick1980a - There is no other side to the issue - I commented on the fact this particular programme did not offer enough information to draw a solid conclusion in my opinion.

Did I say I thought he was guilty? Did even suggest he might be guilty? NO!!! Get that through your head. I commented about the SHOW! This SHOW and nothing more. Jeeesss!

Regarding your last comment that I should "learn the fact." If you stop swearing and LISTEN for once I will not have to keep repeating myself. @Pick1980a - I agree and I would never even read "The New of the World" let alone draw a conclusion about murder from it.

You are now offering information that was not in the documentary. Clearly you know more about this case than I. I simply stated that this documentary did not seems reliable and there was not enough information to draw a conclusion. Apart from watching this I have never even heard about this case. I left a comment about THIS video, that is what the comment section is for.

@WillShakespeare2007 If you want to talk about nations with deceptive media look no further than the UK! The BBC and ITV might be credible. But 90% of ur newspapers are nothing short of propaganda! The News of the World is in trouble for hacking a kidnapped girls cell phone for a story for Christ Sake!

Besides the last link I put up was from CNN and they are a credible station.

And the co-defendant was the guy that got immunity for testifying against him, AFTER he was accused of the murder!

@WillShakespeare2007 HOLY FUCK you are totally one of those people that just likes to disagree. The people at the rental agency where proved to be liars! They said someone else pickup the car and he has a receipt with his own signature on it!!! How is that the same a 10 people saying they saw him! Just because the TV program didn't personally ask every single person on TV doesn't mean the other 8 don't exist. They were all ready to testify & gave statements to the cops! WOW learn the facts!

@Pick1980a - Not at all. It's an american made TV show and the 2 witnesses work with him. I have no reason to believe his friends and if anything more reason to believe the independent car company. Also why does this documentary say nothing about the co-defendant? Is he still in jail?

I am just not gullible enough to take and American TV show on face value - the American media is world famous for lying. If I read the court records I would make an informed decision.
