Shut Down the Army Experience Center: May 2nd 2009

Footage from a rally, march, and demonstration to protest the Army Experience Center (AEC) at the Franklin Mills Mall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The AEC is a recruitment pilot program being tested in the Philadelphia area with intentions of spreading to other malls across the United States. Video games and flight simulators are used to bring youth in and introduce them to the military way of life. Speakers at the rally include an Iraq war veteran, retired military, a Gold Star mother, clergy, and other concerned citizens.

I dont think anyone in that rally has ever "Experienced" the army experience center. Because to be honest, its about getting kids off the street, and helping them with thier future. But I bet those same people went to get an autograph from Brad Lidge at the AEC yesterday. I would rather watch a teen die fighting for thier country nobley, than smoking and drinking till they die of cancer, or homicide.

I have no idea why you want to shut this down. When I look at dumb teenagers texting and saying "OMG" and "like", hundreds of times in thier conversations, it tells me the teens are trapped in a cotton candy world of happiness. More student are failing, doing drugs, and drinking more than ever. The army experience center is a great place. It wakes up teens, and shows them the real world is all about. It makes men out of boys. War will always attract young people, with or without this center.
