Among other places, its a quote mentioned in a long article in Classic Rock magazine from a few years back called "Freddie Mercury 1946 - 1991: Real Life - Or Just Fantasy?" by Jon Hotten, which quotes Brian May as saying that "Lily of the Valley" was about Freddie looking at his girlfriend, Mary Austin, "and realising his body needed to be somewhere else." Google it. I'd link to it but youtube won't let me.

@maxmercury wtf??
Really?? Where can I find that?
I only thought this was about his fantasy world
Now that I listen closely this could really show his doubts specially the lines "I lie and wait with open eyes, I carry on throught stormy skies" but I never had any idea it could be a reference to his inner fight...

I wonder how many get what this song is about?

God I love this song

No one can rival this man's vocals. I have been listening to Queen since I was 8 years old. Funny that all my friends listened to Donny Osmond and I was listening to Queen, Mott the Hoople and the New York Dolls! Thank God for older brothers!

I just did this at my school's talent show

"Lily of the Valley" is one of May's favourite songs by Mercury. Mercury played piano and did all of the vocals. The song has a reference to Seven Seas of Rhye in the line "messenger from Seven Seas has flown to tell the King of Rhye he's lost his throne".

No one can beat queen. no one, nothing, NEVER

Music is in decline.... This isn't even a particularly high-ranking Queen song, and it still surpasses, at least in my opinion, 90% of today's popular music.
