♪♫ When rain drops fall and you feel low
Ah, do you ever think it's useless
Do you feel like letting go
Do you ever sit and do you wonder
Will the world ever change
And just how long will it take
To have it all rearranged

Tell me why these things are still the same
Tell me why no one can seem to learn from mistakes

Take my hand if you don't know where your goin'
I'll understand, I've lost the way myself
Oh, don't take that old road it leads to nowhere
We must return before the clock strikes twelve

It's so easy to do nothin'
When you're busy night and day
Take a step in one direction
And take a step the other way
So don't quit tryin' when you stumble
Don't give up should you fall
Keep on searchin' for the passway
That will lead you through the wall
Don't look back or you'll be left behind
Don't look back or you will never find peace of mind

Take my hand if you don't know where your goin'
I'll understand, I've lost the way myself
Oh, don't take that old road it leads to nowhere
We must return before the clock strikes twelve

Take my hand if you don't know where your goin'
I'll understand, I've lost the way myself
Oh, don't take that old road it leads to nowhere
We must return before the clock strikes ♪♫

  • "Don't look back or you'll never find peace of mind." Fuck Dr.Phil there's more wisdom in one Steppenwolf song than in all of Dr.Phil's gibberish.

  • i love their bass player.

  • "Don't take that old road; it leads to nowhere." Easy to say and much harder to do. That explains why it more come to talk bravely than it is to act bravely. Those few instances of bravery, however, make all the difference.

  • 0nly the best

  • It's a f@cking good song. I liked to dance with a girl close together during this song. No more, no less. Capri?

  • What is the matter zitlight73 did Dr. Phil say something you did not want to hear?

  • Hey ELGROOVER...I mighta knowed it was you that posted it...Every time I want Steppenwolf I know who to call.

  • Does it get any better than this? I think not. It really is that simple folks. Dig. Period. End of discussion. K?

  • We must return before the clock strikes twelve. The truth of this song contributed to knowing how feudal this social system is and it will never change, just get worse. So I found Jesus and I found piece of mind. Thanks John Kay. I'm 58 now.

  • I think both Humble Pie and Steppnwolf did an awesome job on this song. Pie didn't kill the song but did it very well. Steppinwolf didn't have another band out do them. I seriously like both versions. They both punch you in the heart as this is one song you play over and over again.

  • I looked for this song,as I am a huge Humble Pie fan . They covered in their first album, in a wonderful way.

  • The intro destroys me.. Every time. It's the sweetest fucking intro.
