I am still not 100% sure of the full TX mod. Some write ups say put jumpers on 7,8,9 and 6. Some say 7,8,9 and 6,2,3. Not sure which one is correct but I am set to former and it seem to work fine.
I also have ATAS and only band that I cannot autotune is on 80 and 160m -rest, it works like a charm.

I have one also, I actually expanded mine, takes some time removing the SMC resistors and it opens up the TX band substantially. There are some write ups about the softmods using the cable but that does not work as I have found out. Only way to open up TX range is by opening the cover then removing scefic resistors.
I have opened up the GMRS frequencies on 462MHz/FM as a result because I am licensed there also.
FT-857D is an awesome HAM rig.

good old 20 meters got love the band when its good

I want to buy a simple ham radio... but the problem is the antenna. My idea is buy a simple ham radio, and buy a simple antenna, with 50cm. for exemple: ICOM IC-A24. I like to get in touch with people who are at least 300 km radius, but not more than that ... what you can recommend me?

I like mine ... they apparently also work very nice with the atas matching mobile antenna with the autotune feature. 73 de Bob VE6HAM
