I was there in London for the fireworks display and it was about 2330 when I was walking along the Strand with friends that we saw about 12 of the small lights moving across the sky. My immediate though was UFOs due to their extream height. Had to arch neck to see them.

The trouble is that they all glow orange just like a lantern would, and they all seemed to be moving in the same direction... just like a lantern would presumably, drifting along and upwards slowly. If there was some clear change of direction or such it would be clear what they were.

I saw dozens of these things last night, and there were times when they looked to be in formation, and I definately saw a couple descend down whilst retaining their glow - so that goes against the idea of a balloon or lantern probably. One also flew right very close over head where I live... I have good eyesight and there was no sign of any lantern type frame, it was just a glowing ball.

Thanks and you're right not everyone is incredibly intelligent as me but hey enough about me you're making my head big...anyway i just don't find it unusual to see any form of lights in the air on new years eve between 12:00am and 1:00am seen as that's when the sky is lit up..get it? really i think it's military aircrafts being tested.

habbozak, type in new years ufo theres thousands of reports of these.
doesn't anyone realise we celebrate the end of the year so alot of us tend to light fireworks or them chinese floating paper bag things they float like air ballons and you can even make shapes like a triangle if you attatch them using straws....it's not exactly hard to work out.

Duh ... yes The DJRapiD (love the use of the capital D at the end of your name man ... sooo cool!), I think people do realise that fireworks are used at new year! We might not all be as incredibly intelligent as you obviously are, but we can try! Oh, and by the way, Chinese New Year is not 31st December! If you had seen these lights you would not have thought for a second that they were fireworks, and they were miles away from any other fireworks displays. And who said anything about triangles?!

Notice how all of them 3 lights move in exactly the same place at exactly the same time?
Something tells me that these are nothing but street lights and someone moving the camera a bit. :)

believe me mate, i would not waste my time posting a faked video like that!
and you obviously didn't watch for very long as the lights do actually move in relation to each other. besides that you can see the tops of the trees below the lights at some points, particularly in the second of my videos, but i presume you didn't watch that either.
so, whatever it was telling you that these are street lights, i'm telling you they were not!
why waste your time posting such a stupid comment anyway?
