Ingredients:

2 and 1/4 cups cake flour
2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon table salt
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon white vinegar
2 Tablespoons red food coloring (25 to 30 ml)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 and 1/2 cups sugar
1 stick butter (113 grams)

Frosting:
2 and 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 stick butter (113 grams)
16 ounces cream cheese (450 grams)
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract (15ml)

  • I made this for a church function this past weekend...it was a hit. Next time I'm gonna double the ingredients and I made Buttercream Frosting for the cake since I'm not a big fan of cream cheese :-P

  • This is a great recipe. I wanna make this for my brother on his birthday. But I have a question, I only have two 9 inch cake pans and no 8 inch so can the 9 inch cake pans work? Please answer question, I have to make it and my brother's birthday is coming soon.

    You can use your nine inch pans, it may get baked more quickly, perhaps 3 minutes earlier or so, thanks!

  • @Motomachi We do have shortening here, if i'm right in assuming you are from the U.K we call it Margarine. The US just use a different term of reference! Thank you for uploading Freitasex this is a nice easy to follow recipe.
