@Marco007 - 'Я Вас Любил' is, was and will be 'I loved you' in translation. ;-)

@jjvanka Yes, and it has been my sentiment and the rule for my actions since my immigration from USSR, when I got the possibility to see 'another world' and to compare. Yes, that is it - to get 'the best of two worlds'.

@jjvanka Russian is my mother language, but I know English practically the same way, as I started to study English and German, while still a toddler, wrote poetry in three languages, while still a teenager, and have been living in USA within last almost twenty years, being married to the man, who does not speak Russian, and being surrounded by English speaking environment. By the way, in my opinion, Italian and French sound better than Russian, but, maybe, it is because I do not understand them.

I agree with you. What I meant to say though is that Russian as such is 'music' (in my ears). I might have misunderstood your earlier remark (Russian is not my first language). ;-)

@jjvanka When translation is preserving rhythm and rhymes of the original, it is also the music. And it means that such translation could be sung on the music of the original. In my case it was the music of Glinka for this romance. And my translation fits this music of the original, as real poetic translations should do..

@jivanka I translate Russian poetry, preserving rhythms and rhymes of originals. So, it sounds like music in English also. In the case, which I referred to, it was the music of M. Glinka-the music of this original romance. My translation can be sung with this original music Once again, if anybody interested, might buy my book, or contact me-personally.
